1947 J Model Whizzer
| This ratty old 1947 Whizzer came "barn fresh" from Pennsylvania.
It took a little sweat and a crank rebuild to get this one up to speed.
Now it is good enough for putting around town or at the pier. I have decided
not to restore the cosmetics on this one because most people in California
have never seen a Whizzer before and don't realize how old they are until
they start to look this one over. To the average tourist a fully restored,
shiny, Whizzer seems to get labeled as some new beach cruiser with a motor
in it rather than a true vintage piece of American history.
Some kid back in the 1950s did a primative but cool paint job on this one. He is no doubt older than I am now. |

Custom Whizzer
| I built this Whizzer to look something like a vintage
motorcycle but it wound up looking more like the Mega Pimp Cycle From Hell.
It has an extended wheel base and Schwinn vintage copy springer fork, black
frame with flames. The engine is a new re-issue 150cc, 4 stroke Whizzer
engine. I lowered and angled engine which moves the cylinder head to near
vertical while giving the clutch cover a more horizontal position reminiscent
of a Harley. I also modified the exhaust pipe producing a more noticeable,
deeper sound and fabricated an "8 Ball" stick shift that gives it a true
neutral. It is a real head turner and was displayed in The Santa Barbara
Wheels And Waves Hot Rod and Motorcycle Show in 2003.
